FAQ

FAQ

Q1: How long will my online art centre store be down for?
A1: If you have upgraded to the new SAM API (v3) your art centre store will have no down time. Your art centre will need to work with your web developer to switch to the new SAM API before you GO LIVE with new SAM.

Q2: Will we still be able to open the art centre and use SAM?
A2: Yes, all the onboarding and set-up will be done before you start using the new SAM. When you finally do start using the new SAM there shouldn’t be any interruption to art centre opening times or using SAM.

Q3: What if we don't want to move our data across to the new SAM?
A3: The old SAM will be phased out as soon as all art centres are ready to move across to the new SAM. If you want to start SAM with a clean slate- please get in touch!

Q4: Will I get training?
A4: Yes. As part of ‘onboarding’ you will receive access to training. This will allow you time to complete training prior to ‘Going Live’ with SAM.

Q5: Will new SAM link to Squarespace?
A5: Capacity yes but work with your own web developer to create a plugin.

Get in touch with Scott training@sam.org.au if you have a web developer that you would recommend to integrate the new SAM API v3 or any other plugins needed. The SAM team will be sharing a list of recommended Web Developers soon!

Q6: Will artists have permissions to access their individual profiles?
A6: Future add – Wishlist*

*Wishlist is a list that the SAM team will return to following the GO LIVE of the new SAM. These are items that are out of scope for the first launch,  but are still a priority.

Q7: How will database work for missing data?
A7: The database will work by imported into mandatory field and a generic entry.

Example; For a missing DOB the generic entry will be '01.01.1920’. For gender the generic entry will be ‘other'.

Q8: Will SAM be available as an app?
A8: No, but Tablet friendly and some pages mobile friendly.

Q9: Will new SAM have 2 way communication with new API?
A9: Yes

Yes! The SAM API v3 will update online sales to your SAM database and vice versa. More information released soon on what information on your online store can be linked to your SAM database.

Q10: Option for artists to be able to save money in separate account
A10: This is not currently set up in SAM. A feature that allows for a savings account through a discrete tab has been added to the Wishlist*.

Artist savings account in the SAM currently is not a supported function, but has been created as a work around. While the function is needed by many art centres, more work needs to be done to ensure that the function is supported and complies with good governance.

Q11: List of ecommerce platforms that have SAM working and integrated?
A11: WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify are current platforms that have been tried and proven.

Jane from Digital Labelling Project will be putting together a list of ecommerce platforms that are recommended.

Q12: Can artworks be searched by their main colour
A12: Artworks at the moment aren’t tagged by colour, however colour can be added into the description and searched for.

Q13: Is there a place to record a second size measurement for an artwork e.g. basket exterior size and interior size?
A13: A second artwork or edition measurement not in original requirements and is therefore out of scope, but has been added to the Wishlist*. You can add a second measurement to the Artwork Story for inclusion.

Q14: Auto-generated reports possible, e.g.. monthly sales emailed?
A14: SAM is capable of autogenerated reports, at this stage however it is only doing notifications. We need more information from users (you!), once SAM GOES LIVE about what is needed.

Q15: Any live training sessions?
A15: After tranches roll out there will be regular training scheduled with live group sessions available. During roll out we may not have capacity for live training.

Q16: Will there be any 1:1 training before go live?
A16: Not specifically, but training through the LMS will be completed before GO LIVE. If an art centre is struggling then yes we can absolutely set up 1:1.
